Cardology vs. Tarot: Discover the Key Differences

The difference between cardology and tarot is significant enough that they are two entirely different systems, yet we can learn a lot by comparing them.

Cardology (or the Cards of Destiny) is the mystical science of the playing cards. Tarot is a different deck entirely with its own symbolism, design and meaning. The tarot deck has 78 cards, while the playing cards have 52. Each deck has four suits, which can be compared to one another:

• hearts = cups
• clubs = wands
• diamonds = pentacles
• spades = swords

Similar to tarot, the playing cards can be used for divination, but this is actually called cartomancy. 

Cardology is similar to astrology and numerology in that it relates to your birthday. You have a specific card based on the day you were born. This card has an entire hand and can tell you about your personality, relationships and more.
